Our Dedication to the Breed

The Florida Gulf Coast Weimaraner Club (FGCWC) encourages its members and fanciers of the breed to accept

the standard for the breed, per the American Kennel Club.  The standard was approved in 1971.  The breed can

best be described by the opening paragraph of the standard, which states:

“A medium-sized gray dog, with fine aristocratic features. He should present a picture of grace, speed, stamina,

alertness and balance.  Above all, the dog’s conformation must indicate the ability to work with great speed and

endurance in the field.”

The FGCWC has been in existence since 1975 and is a member in good standing of the Weimaraner Club of

America.  FGCWC has more than 50 members throughout Florida with interests varying from pet ownership to

participation in obedience, field, agility, tracking, community and show events.  It just depends what type of

adventure the dogs and their owners want to experience.

The purpose of our club is to provide support to owners of Weimaraners and to encourage and promote quality in the breeding of Weimaraners and to do all possible to bring their natural qualities to perfection.

We sponsor a number of events including a Weimaraner AKC Specialty Show each January and fun events such as dog beach parties, pot luck socials, meetings, art gallery openings, and participation at media events throughout the year.

By joining the Florida Gulf Coast Weimaraner Club, you are showing your support for the breed and gaining

other opportunities for having fun with your Weimaraner.
